CMS releases names of providers eligible for primary care incentive program

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently sent Medicare contractors the names and National Provider Identifiers of providers who are eligible for the 10 percent primary care incentive payment. An additional 10 percent will be paid for Medicare primary care services. Many contractors posted to their Web sites the list of eligible providers or eligibility search tools. Eligible providers must have a certain specialty designation and have primary care services comprise at least 60 percent of their Medicare allowables. CMS revised the eligibility criteria in the final 2011 Medicare physician fee schedule.
